Spyware: MacScan

Spyware is a software that is installed on a computer to collect user information and behavior. It can also change settings and typically ends up slowing processing speeds. Anti-spyware software is used to remove and protect from spyware. I have always been a fan of the Spybot program and Windows Defender. I used it on my previous window computers and recommended it to family and friends. I currently use a Macbook Pro 2.5 and I am unable to download and use Spybot. So I did some research to find some comparable programs that would work with this OS. There seemed to be many positive reviews on different anti spyware programs specifically designed for macs but during my search a program from SecureMac called MacScan kept coming up. After reading about MacScan and many user reviews I decided that I would give it a shot. Designed to detect, isolate and remove harmful spyware, key logger and backdoor applications that threaten user personal information and privacy. It also provides online technical assistance if needed. After exploring the tools and customizing the preferences I found MacScan to be a simple yet effective anti spyware application that I will continue to use. Some of the features that I enjoy the most are the information/definition window and the automatic scheduler tool. I am curious to know what kind of security applications or programs other macs owners are using. I learned that MacScan protects against spyware/malware but not viruses, so I still need to research and find a reliable and effective antivirus.
