   Safety Education Checklist and Student Agreement

 

I, ________________________________________, the student, agree to the following rules for using computers and the internet at school:

 

 

  1. Use of the internet at school is a privilege, not a right.  If I choose to abuse the privilege, I understand that I will lose it.
  2. I will only use the school internet if there are teachers present supervising me. I understand that unsupervised use is not permitted.
  3. I will not correspond with people I do not know.
  4. I will not give out any of my personal information on the web.
  5. I will not log onto any adult or inappropriate websites, should I find that they are accessible on the computer.
  6. I will not hide things that I am doing online from my teachers.
  7. I will follow all of my teacher’s instructions regarding use of the computers and the internet.  I will stay with the class during instructional activities, and will not move ahead or log onto other sites. 
  8. I will not email at school, as this activity is not educational, and may lead to my communication with persons of whom my parents may not approve. 
  9. I will not bully or harass others while online, nor will I invade another’s privacy.
  10. I will not play electronic games unless given specific permission from my teacher.
  11. I will not bypass any school imposed restrictions on access.
  12. If I experience technical problems I will inform my teacher immediately, rather than attempting to fix the problem myself.
  13. I understand that my parents could be held financially liable for any damage I cause to computers at school, for any harm I cause to other people as a result of malice, recklessness or negligence on my part, or for any harm caused to others by any violation of this acceptable use policy.
