Spring into Fitness!!
Introduction: In our
society today being healthy and staying fit is of great concern. It is of great importance to learn the ways
you can stay healthy. Besides just
eating nutritious meals, exercise is one of the best ways to stay fit and be
healthy at the same time. In our classes
we have talked a little about fitness so with this activity I want to enhance
they knowledge that you already have by becoming even more knowledgeable in the
area of fitness. As you continue on with
the activity you will be learning about weight training, aerobic exercise, and
anaerobic exercise as well as other important information about starting an
exercise program.
Task: In order for you to learn more about
fitness you will be visiting four different websites. As you read through each site you will be
completing an activity that will be turned in.
After you have gone through all the websites you are going to use that
information that you have just gained to make your self a workout program that
you will be using for this class as well as for your self at home to stay
healthy. I want you to have fun with
this so pick activities that you know you will enjoy doing. If you want incorporate you parents or a
friend into the workout with you so you both can have fun working out. Read on to find out more!!
Process:
The first website you will be going to will
introduce you to five steps to go through in order to get you fitness program
started. The information you gather
should stay in the back of you mind as you begin to plan and start your
program. The area that I want you to pay
close attention to is the section on fitness goals. The first part of you activity will be to
make a chart of at least 5 short term goals and at least 5 long term
goals. Remember short term goals are
ones that you will achieve in a weeks time or even in month and your long term
goals are ones that you will achieve over a longer period of time like over 1
year or even throughout your life as you continue to workout as you get
older. The goals should be personal to
you and they should show what it is you want to get out of the program you are
designing. To view this website click on
the link 5 steps in the resource section below.
The next website that you will be visiting
will introduce you to aerobic exercise.
On the site you will learn what aerobic exercise is all about and the
types of activities you can do for aerobic exercise such as swimming. While
reading the article pay close attention to the benefits that a person gets form
exercising. Your next activity that I
want you to complete is to make a table to show the benefits that someone will
get from overall exercise and aerobic exercise.
To view this website click on the link aerobic exercise in the resource
section below.
The third website you will be visiting
is all about weight training. You are
going to read an article which discusses reasons why you should make weight
training part of you workout and how lifting weights benefits your life. The article will give you some of the basic
information that you will need to know about weight training. In the article you will find a section on the
types of weight lifting to do and the sequence to do those exercises. The final section of the article goes over
how you want to choose your number of repetitions and sets. I want you to take notes on things that you
find important and are relevant to you because you will use that information as
you begin to plan your workout program.
To view this website click on the link weight training in the resource
section below.
The last website that you will be visiting
will introduce you to anaerobic exercise.
You will learn what anaerobic exercise is and types of activities you
can do for anaerobic exercise such as sit ups or crunches. Be sure to take some notes so that you can
use this information as you begin to plan your workout program. Some of you that play sports might want to be
sure to include anaerobic exercise in your workout programs because it will
definitely help you. To view this
website clink on the link anaerobic exercise in the resource section
below.
