Online Worksheets, Puzzles, and Activities

 

 

The following is a collection of links to sites that contain worksheets and activity resources that may be beneficial to middle school technology teachers.

Computer Application / Technology Worksheets:

Cabin John MS. – This site contains many lesson plans and activity sheets for use in Computer Application classes.  The lessons and worksheets are designed for grades 6-8.  (http://www.mcps.k12.md.us/schools/cabinjohnms/lessons_cjms.html)

Education Online For Computers – This site offers free and subscription-based training for various Microsoft Office applications.  There are PDF downloadable tutorials available for free.  They could make great self-paced extension activities for kids who finish early and wish to learn something new.  These would be appropriate for 8th grade Computer Applications classes. Templates – A site attached to Union County Technical Vocational Schools website.  Offers free Power Point templates for a variety of activities and grade levels.  The “Jeopardy” or “Who wants to be a Millionaire” template could be used for vocabulary reinforcement type activities in 6th, 7th and 8th grade Computer Applications.  (http://www.ucvts.tec.nj.us/ettc/links/linkhtml/templates/template.htm)

Discovery School Worksheet Generator – This site contains many vocabulary worksheets and puzzles relating to technology terms.  These sheets would be appropriate for 6-8th grade Computer Applications students. (http://school.discovery.com/teachingtools/worksheetgenerator/wtg/tech.html)

 

Worksheets for Teachers – This site has worksheets and quizzes for basic technology vocabulary terms.  The list includes matching and scramble activities for a variety of general, word processing, and Internet terms. These would be appropriate for grades 6-8. (http://www.worksheets4teachers.com/technologysheets.php)

 

Internet4Classrooms – This site offers many templates and sample activities for use with Microsoft Excel.  There are even games which demonstrate how to protect your spreadsheet data.  These activities would be appropriate for 8th grade Advanced Computer Application students.  Scroll down to the green section!

PowerPoint in the Classroom – This site contain tutorials and activities related to PowerPoint.  This link takes you to the printable version of the tutorials.  These would be appropriate for grades 6 – 8.  (http://www.actden.com/pp/print.htm)

 

Green River Community College – This site contains worksheets and checklists for basic word processing skills.  I have reviewed the sites and sheets and find the concepts are simple and appropriate for use in grades 6–8 Computer Application classes.  (http://www.ivygreen.ctc.edu/avery/activities/word/Writing_main.htm)

 

Kathy Schrock’s Guide for Educators – This site contains many pre-made rubrics and evaluation tools for teachers and students to use with technology projects such as web pages, webquests and multimedia presentations. Internet Hunt Activities – This site by Cindy O’Hora contains Internet computer related scavenger hunts. Scroll down to the section labeled “Computer Based Hunts”.  Hunts range from e-mail safety to mp3 media hunts.
