Virtual Fieldtrips

As we only have one semester to complete this course, time for field trips is not available. BUT what we do have is the laboratory to take us any place we want. I have created four virtual fieldtrips that we will be taking this semester. On the next lab class, be logged in and ready to go for our field trip. (Remember: there is no eating or drinking in the lab; so we cannot sample the local food on our trip! ja, ja)

You will be expected to post your field trip journal thoughts, like our video for the book, sharing your thoughts on the Discussion Board. Your posting needs to be at least 250 words. You need to submit your first posting by Thursday, 11:59 p.m. after our fieldtrip. You also need to comment on at least one other posting by another classmate.

Buen Viaje!

CANCUN, MEXICO

Cancun is seen as a great Spring break destination for college students, but there is much more to see and do in Cancun besides lying by the pool, sipping the local beverages. We are going to explore some of the fantastic sites of the Yucatan Peninsula, the region where Cancun is located.

Link to the map below and see some Cancun sites:

Be sure to see these places during our visit to this site:

ü      Museo Arqueologico

ü      Plaza de Toros

ü      Ruinas del Rey

ü      Coral Negro

ü      Centro de Convenciones

ü      At least two beaches: Playas

Now, let’s find a place to stay. Click on the link below and find your ideal resort or hotel. Be sure to make notes why you feel it is the best place to stay. (Don’t get too wrapped up in looking at all of the places, we would be here for days, not 50 minutes.)

Great, now that we have a place to stay. What can we do besides explore Cancun and the resort activities? Check out each of these links below to see the side trips we are taking.

Wow, all that traveling made me ‘hambre’, how about you? Let’s check out some restaurants that arent on the resort for some yummy local cuisine.

Ok, now it is time for you to write your journal posting. Submit that to the Discussion Board on Blackboard by Thursday 11:59 p.m. and comment on at least one other person’s posting.

Hope you enjoyed your trip. Hasta la vista.
