Introduction: In class, we have learned much about the past presidents of our country, but do you know which president you are most similar to? In this activity, you will visit three websites to gather fun facts about nine presidents.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Main Activity: Begin this activity by getting out the “President Fact Chart” that I gave you in class. You will use this chart to record data.  The first entry (George Washington) has been done for you as an example.  Next, you will visit three websites in any order to gather the data for the chart.  The websites are:

Presidential Petshttp://www.factmonster.com/ipka/A0768598.html

Wives and Children of Presidentshttp://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0194051.html

Presidentshttp://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0194030.html

If you need help, please raise you hands and I will come around to help you.

Follow-up Activity: Once you have completed your chart, follow these directions carefully:

1.  With a red crayon, lightly color the in the box in the “Pets” column that most closely describes the pets you have at home.

2.  With a blue crayon, lightly color in the box in the “Birthday” column that is the closest to your birthday.  Ignore the year of birth.

3.  With a red crayon, lightly color in the box in the “Number of Children” column that is closest to your family.  For example, if you have two brothers, there are three children total in your family.

4.  Lastly, with a blue crayon, lightly color in any boxes in the “State of Birth” column that list the state in which you were born.  If you do not know where you were born, use the state that you live in now.  In red, color in boxes that list states you have visited, if any.

5.  Did you match more than one box with any president? Draw a star next to the president that you have the most in common with.

Extra Activity: If you have completed your work, you may visit the White House Kids website.  Take a tour of the White House with Spotty.  Take a quiz with India.  Look at photo albums. Or play White House games.
