Where Does the Water Go?

Have you ever wondered why it rains or snows? For this assignment, you will discover the parts of the water cycle. This is probably the most important cycle that occurs on planet Earth. The Earth is estimated to be 70-75% water! Without it, we could not do many of the things that you and I take for granted. Even some of your favorite products could not be made without water. We will talk about this cycle in class and then use the internet to get more in depth. I want you to be able to tell me how water gets to my drinking glass.

Visit this site to get a basic understanding of the water cycle:

Then, go to this USGS site to see in greater detail where water goes to and comes from:

Now, fill in the diagram provided with what you have learned. The boxes that say “step _” should contain the main steps of the water cycle. Follow instructions contained within the other boxes.

For the last part of this assignment, ask me for a quiz on what we have learned. Turn the quiz in when you are finished and hold on to your diagrams for later.
