There are many teacher
made websites available on the Internet.
Here are two that I reviewed.
Website: http://bes.lumpkin.k12.ga.us/~bfulgham/teacherresource.htm
Grade
Level: K-12
Subject: Comprehensive listing of
resources for all content subject areas as well as resources for sign language,
free workshops for professional development, poetry and songs to name a few.
Usefulness: This is an extensive resource list
with current and active links. It
provides teacher educational resources as well as content related instructional
resources. This is particularly useful
to the new teacher.
Recommendations:
1.
While
this is an extensive list of resources it is visually difficult to take all of
the information in and decide where to navigate.
2.
The
selection of the color pallet needs to consider colors that do not blend into
each other making it difficult to read.
3.
The
words on this page crowd one another and make it difficult to read. Indenting and leaving a space in between
links would make it easier to read.
Commendations:
1.
The time and effort put
into creating this website does not go unnoticed. It is a lengthy listing that is kept updated by the creator. Each link tests as an operating link.
2.
It was
a great idea to have the warning at the top of the page. Due to the ever-changing Internet users are
advised to have an adult check the page prior to letting the student view the
site.
3.
Wonderful
addition to the teacher specific websites where they are able to post
assignments and event of the classroom.
This is a wonderful tool for connecting the parents to the classroom
Website: http://teacherweb.com/CAMyford/MrBruce/index.html
Grade
Level: 5th Grade
Subject: This is a site developed by
Mr. Bruce a 5th grade teacher in California. This site is designed as resource for
parents and students in his class. It
contains information regarding: teacher
profile, homework, supplies, calendar, class schedule, outdoor education and
more!
Usefulness: This is a comprehensive tool that
identifies all classroom requirements, assignments,
upcoming activities, and
links to educational resources.
Recommendations:
1.
Include
a link to student projects such as poems or stories they have written.
2.
Include
a link to models or pictures of projects completed by the previous years class.
3.
Include
supplemental web-links for students to practice or expand upon lessons taught
in class.
Commendations:
1.
This
is a well-designed site that is visually organized and easy to navigate. It is designed and written to promote a
positive learning environment.
2.
It is
interesting with the use of animated clip-art.
3.
It
provides recognition to specific students for positive character attributes.
