Folger
Shakespeare Library – The Folger Shakespeare Library website offers a wealth of
Shakespearean resources to teachers of all age students, with a particular
focus on the secondary level. Full lesson plans developed by outstanding
teachers across the country and easily modified for any classroom are featured
on the site, complete with downloadable worksheets and primary source documents.
While some lessons pertain to one specific play, many can be adapted for use
with multiple plays of the same genre. The Folger
Shakespeare Library also provides access to additional primary source
documents, including written documents, images, and maps, for your use in

PBS Teachers 9-12 Reading and Language Arts – The PBS Teachers website offers
valuable materials specifically designed for use in the high school English
classroom. The most valuable classroom resources available are
documentary-accompanying web pages, containing concise information about the major
literary topics, interactive features, classroom activities, and valuable web
links. These resources can be used on their own or in close conjunction with the
viewing of a PBS program in the classroom – a wonderful way to guarantee that
students are truly engaged film viewers. Independent Lens Great American
Authors activity packs can even be imbedded into classroom teachers’ websites.

Think – The National Council of Teachers of English supports classroom
learning in language arts with lesson plans, web resources, and student
materials for all grade levels. Teachers can easily select the grade band
appropriate for their classrooms. Lessons ideas provided cover a wide range of
topics, and are categorized into one of three essential literary engagement
headings: Learning Language, Learning about Language, and Learning through
Language. Given the source, all lesson plans have already been aligned with

Read (National Endowment for the Arts) – As a part of their literary initiative, The Big Read, the
National Endowment for the Arts provides online lesson ideas, supplementary
resources, and both student and teacher guides for a plethora of literary
selections. For many texts, the NEA has recorded ˝ hour Radio Show podcasts
which feature scholars and authors reading excerpts from the books and
