Instructional Worksheets On the Web

 

 

 

Teachers spend a LOT of time creating new worksheets, quizzes, activities, etc. to use in their classrooms.  Fortunately, there are now MANY websites that provide teachers with these instructional tools, so they don’t need to waste hours upon hours “reinventing the wheel”.  Many sites even offer tools that allow you to customize your own worksheets to fit your particular lessons.  Hooray for technology!!!  These are some of the best resources that I found for secondary English teachers.

 

Englishcompanion.com- This site offers worksheets for a variety of topics that are very useful in the English classroom.  The best part about this site is that it contains an assortment of graphic organizers/charts for students to organize their reactions, insights, and analyses of class material and literature.  You can print these worksheets out and use them in your own classroom.  http://www.englishcompanion.com/

 

edHelper.com- This is a wonderful instructional resource to find vocabulary, grammar, and reading worksheets.  Limited resources are available without memberships, but from the sample pages, it appears well worth your money.  You can print out already created worksheets with answer keys, or create your own customized worksheets and tests.  http://www.edhelper.com/

 Education World: Language Arts Work Sheet Library- Search through this library to find useful, ready to go worksheets on writing, literary terms, public speaking, and even resume writing.  You can search by grade level and find the resources you need!

 Discovery School’s Worksheet Generator- This is an outstanding resource for teachers.  You can create your own worksheets, or search through numerous ready-made worksheets within your content area.  The English worksheets include everything from grammar, to vocabulary, and even specific literature.  http://school.discovery.com/teachingtools/worksheetgenerator/

 

 Discovery School’s Puzzlemaker- This is an excellent source that allows teachers to create their own puzzles for instructional use.  You can choose between a variety of puzzles including cross words, word searches, word tiles, and many more.  You simply enter your content information and Discovery School creates your puzzle and includes a solution key!  http://puzzlemaker.school.discovery.com/

Flash Card Exchange- This is a great tool for creating vocabulary, grammar, literary term, etc. flash cards.  You can become a member, free of charge, and create your own account with customized flash cards for your instructional use.  http://www.flashcardexchange.com/index.php

 

 Teach-nology- This is a wonderful resource that provides thousands of free worksheets and instructional tools.  You can search quickly and easily through the Language Arts section to find great worksheets to use in your own classroom.  If you want access to more of this site’s outstanding services, you can pay to join in a variety of membership options.  http://www.teach-nology.com/

 

 WWW4Teachers- This site allows you to search through a wealth of materials, as well as create your own worksheets, quizzes, organizers, etc.  Login to most every activity is free.  This site contains many quick and easy tools for teachers.  http://www.4teachers.org/

 

 Inspiration.com- This site allows you to download a free 30 day trial offer that is excellent for creating worksheets and graphic organizers.  The trial offer includes instructional information on how to use the resource and you can immediately begin creating your own original organizers.  They also have tool, Kidspiration, designed specifically for elementary teachers.  http://inspiration.com/home.cfm
