Internet
Safety Course Module

Goals-
Students will visit the sites listed below and read about Internet Safety. They
will then make a list of at least 6 things that they must do to stay safe on
the Internet.
Content Overview – Almost everyone in our school has used the
Internet at least once. When you use the Internet to research projects or to
talk to other people you have certain things that you need to do to stay safe.
It is your job to make a list of things you need to know and remember when you
are using the Internet. Make it simple so that you can quickly look at it when
it is hanging up.
Reading and Discussion – Look at at least 4 of the sites below.
Read about how to stay safe on the Internet. Write down ideas that are good
from each site. Just make notes you are not turning this part in.
Activities – Create a tips sheet of at least 6 tips of how to stay safe
on the Internet. When everyone has
completed their tip list we will make a class list of Internet Safety tips. We
will post this in our classroom and in the computer lab so that we remember
what to do to stay safe.
Assignment Specifications – Create a tips sheet of at least 6 tips of
how to stay safe on the Internet. Type it in Microsoft Word. Use size 16 font
and make sure it is easy to read. Do not copy the tips word for word off of the
site. Write it in your own words. You will share your tips with the class and
with your parents. Make a space where you and your parents can sign to show you
understand these tips. Look at the sample agreement below.
Sample Agreement – Just
look at the student/child section, do not worry about the parent section.
Submission – Save your document in your student folder. Then drag it into
the drop box. Let me know that your assignment is ready to be graded by
checking your name off on the list in the classroom.
Assessments/Assignments – After I have read and graded your Tip
sheet take it home and share it with your family. Have a family member sign it
and bring it back to school. I will look at it, then return it to you. You can
then place it by your computer so you remember how to stay safe.
Quiz or Test – Take the Internet
Safety Quiz to find out how much you have learned.
