Impressionism:

A Virtual Field Trip

Welcome. Today we shall be taking a trip into the world of Impressionism. Our first stop is the Paris Webmuseum where, you shall read a brief introduction to this well known art movement.

Now that you have a basic understanding of the history and meaning of Impressionism, we are going to take a closer look at by traveling to the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. to visit an exhibit on one of the most famous painters from this era, Vincent van Gogh.

Our next stop is Aix-en-Provence, France the birthplace of another famous Impressionist painter, Paul Cezanne where you can explore the town, surrounding area, and the artwork that was inspired by it.

Those who are familiar with the artwork of Claude Monet are aware that the inspiration for many of his paintings was the gardens surrounding his home in Giverny, France. You now have the chance to join an elementary school art teacher on fantastic trip through the beautiful Gardens of Claude Monet.

Finally, we are off to Chicago, the Windy City, and the Art Institute of Chicago,

 

 

where you will have the opportunity, through the use of pictures, graphics, as well as video, for an in depth exploration of a classic painting that is from the Impressionism era and also happens to be one my personal favorites:
