The Daily Special

As we begin our unit on Nutrition, it is important to understand how the foods we eat affect our health.  Eating a variety of healthy foods, along with physical exercise, is the best way to avoid health problems.  The Food Pyramid was designed by the United States Department of Agriculture to promote healthy nutrition in children over two.  The Food Pyramid describes the five major food groups and recommended serving sizes for each.

For this activity, you are going to click on the following web link below to learn about the daily guidelines.  Using the Food Pyramid as your guideline, you are going to create a “daily special” menu for one day consisting of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Your daily menu must include all of the recommended servings from each food group based on a 2800 calorie diet.  Bon Apatite!

FOOD GUIDE PYRAMID

You can create your menu on a program of your choice.  Make sure you name your restaurant on the top of your menu.  The more creative the better!
