Children’s Online Educational Resources
This bibliography will supply students, teachers, and
parents with links to educational resources such as online education games,
online magazine sites, search engines, and online book sites that will be helpful
to students, teachers, and parents in the classroom and the home. Below are
numerous links with a brief description of the website for you to read, review,
search, and use these links in becoming a more successful teacher and student.
Kids Online Educational Games:
The following are online educational game sites where the student can learn and experience the fun of learning through interactive games and many different fun and educational activities. These games focus on all areas/subjects of learning for kids of all ages to help the students have fun while learning. The great thing with these online game sites is that the child can learn to use the site in the classroom and take what they’ve learned home or the child can learn at home and bring to the classroom.
Starfall is primarily designed for first grade, but also
useful for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and second grade. This is a great
educational page that connects learning and skill building for kids. Starfall is very useful for kids in the classroom or at
home, teachers in the classroom, and parents at home. This site is where
children have fun learning to read! This site offers lots of fun games for kids
and is easy to use and easy to play.

games are interactive, challenging, and will build the students skill level and

PBS kids is an online school readiness tool featuring many
exciting and interactive games for kids. This site also offers music, coloring
(Paint by letter), and videos for kids from birth the early school years. Great

for online educational learning which covers hundreds of topics for kids and
broken down into grade levels. Iknowthat.com is one of the most innovated,
webhosted multimedia activities for kids. Activities are offered in the
subjects of Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, the Arts, and
Language Arts. Social Learning, thinking games, and quiz central are other
activities that are offered. This is one site that shouldn’t be passed by.

has fun and educational games and activities for kids. Again, the option of
games and activities is almost unlimited for the kids. There are coloring pages,

This is an amazing magazine and website for kids. This magazine is designed for
children ages 6-14 years of age. The website offers games, videos, stories,
activities, animals, people & places, and photos. This information is great
and the photos are so clear and detailed it is as if you are right there. The
magazine is also a great source for information with lots of pictures and

RANGER
RICK: National Wildlife Federation
This magazine is designed for
children ages 7 years old and up. The Ranger Rick website takes kids through
nature with amazing wildlife photographs, activities, green games, riddles, and
a life long learning adventure of our wildlife around the world. Other National Wildlife Federation’s
award-winning children’s magazines are: Animal Baby Magazine ages 0-4 years old
and Your Big Backyard Magazine 3-7 years old.

CRICKET: The Realm of
Imagination
The CRICKET magazine has been
around for 30 years and has entertained young
children. It has won almost every award given to kids' literary magazines. The
CRICKET magazines have 48 pages filled with fiction, fantasy, folk tales,
adventures, poems, history, biography, puzzles, activities, reading
recommendations, recipes, contests, and crafts. One very memorable feature is
the bug characters in the margins of the pages.
The "bugs" offer a brief explanation of the stories and
explains difficult words. The webpage actually allows one to flip through the
pages of sample CRICKET magazines.

is designed for children ages 8 and up. Sports Illustrated for KIDS keeps kids
up to date with the latest in sports action. There are articles and tear out
photos of the best athletes, sports season previews, and additional articles on
which athletes or sports teams are helping around the world. The website offers
top stories, blogs, games, videos, puzzles, photos, and activities for kids.
The Sports Illustrated for KIDS website also gives kids the opportunity to view
their favorite teams or any teams schedule, roster, scores, standings, and

children ages 2-12. Check out the free online fun for kids by clicking on
highlights kids in the upper right hand corner. Kids can print and find the hidden
pictures or click and play online. There is also a fun finder, games and
giggles, story soup, mystery sounds, and science questions. Kids can build
their own robot, create their own creature, or paint pictures from the pages of
Highlight. Some other magazines from Highlight are Puzzle Buzz for ages 4-7 and

The following are helpful sites that help kids of all ages begin to learn and process the World Wide Web. All of the sites have many unique features and learning tools for the kids.
This is hands down the number
one kid safe search engine. This search engine is set up for user’s age 7-12
years of age. The sites are hand picked/ human-edited to be appropriate for
children which eliminates the possibly of objectionable sites from slipping in.
This is an amazing search engine for kids with unlimited possibilities and
arena’s for kids to explore. There is animation and vivid colors to catch the
child’s eye. It is also very kid friendly and easy to use.

for kids that was created by a group of librarians. It is very kid
friendly and easy to use. After each search is conducted, each result lists the
website where the information can be found, a brief description of the site, if
there are any illustrations, the reading level, and the subject. The choices
are endless.

of sites for kids picked by members of the American Library Association. The site offers high quality content
specifically for the children 14 years of age and younger. The child can choose the specific age group

and easy to follow. The child enters their search in the available box, presses
enter, and then they are directed to related links. There is also an image

categories the child can choose to search and also a list of hot topics to
choose from if the child is interested. The children are given many choices to

There are big colored tabs in the middle of the page that offer great

by Oscar Orman for all ages. The webpage is broken
into categories, grades, and ages. This site is where kids can listen and learn
together. Oscar Orman is the chief story teller. There are endless choices for stories and
authors for all ages and audible kids help kids discover great and entertaining
stories. There are recommendations from other parents, teachers, and
librarians. The books need to be bought and downloaded to your computer or
other devices.
