Amelia Bedelia-
A Study of Idioms

We have been reading a number of Amelia Bedelia books this year because they are fun to read.
Amelia Bedelia is a famous series of books by Peggy Parish. These hilarious books teach us about a term called idioms. This web quest will make you familiar with Peggy Parish’s Amelia Bedelia character. You will also become familiar with the term idiom and be able to identify idioms in Amelia Bedelia books. You will work with a partner and complete a venn diagram and a concept web using the program inspiration.

Activity Two
Discovering idioms in Amelia Bedelia Books

Idioms are words that don't mean exactly how they read. For
example: It is raining cats and dogs. Cats and dogs are not
REALLY falling from the sky. The expression means that it is
raining really hard.
With your partner, find at least 3 idioms each in the Amelia Bedelia books
you have read. Create a Concept Web using Inspiration. Your web must
include:
*The idioms found in the books (at least 6 )
*What you know the idioms really mean
*What Amelia Bedelia thought the idioms meant.
