Student/Teacher Internet Emergency Plan

What should you do in the case of an inappropriate web site popping up when you are on the Internet?

Follow each step, and do not panic or involve other students.

1. Direct your cursor to the back arrow with your mouse and click. Quietly and calmly raise your hand for an adult to come help you.

If this does not get you out of the site,

2. Click the X at the top right of your screen.

If this still does not work:

3. Turn off the monitor by pressing the button on your monitor at the lower right hand side and wait for the light to turn off or turn orange.

Press the button on the front of your computer. It is right below the small green light. Hold the button until the light turns off.

*If your teacher is not around, ask the adult that is with you to help you. Make sure to tell your teacher that you came across an inappropriate site and the procedure you took. Remember you are in a character counts school, so make sure to show that you are responsible, trustworthy, a good citizen, and respectful when reporting this incident.
