The Food Pyramid

                                   

In order to stay healthy it is important to eat the right foods.  The Government has designed a Food Pyramid to help us have a good diet.  It is a guideline which tells us how much of each type of food we should eat in a day. To learn about the Food Pyramid we will look at an online source.  Visit the website: http://kidshealth.org/kid/stay_healthy/food/pyramid.html.  Read the information and study the Pyramid diagram at the top of the website.  Also click on the word links to learn more about those topics.

 

Answer the following questions after reviewing the information on the website:

  1. What serving size are Grains measured by?

6.   In two food groups, girls age 9 to 13 should eat less than boys of the same age.  List the two food groups.

Review the Food Pyramid diagram below.  How many foods from each group do you eat in a day?  Write down the number for each group and list the foods.  According to the information on the website you visited, are you eating enough foods from each group?  If not, what foods could you add to your diet to meet the Food Pyramid daily requirements?  Write your answers in the space below the diagram.
