Elective #9 Lesson Plans

English Lesson Plans on the Internet

The following links are to readily available English Lesson Plans for varying grade levels.  Most are focused on teaching English on the High School level; however some have engines to allow you to search for all grade levels.  All links are free of charge and of logins and passwords.  Many of the websites are homemade and are subject to updating according to their designer’s whims.

These are my top 5 rated Websites for English Lesson Plans

1.  Web English Teacher  WOW!  What a website!  Very thorough and covers a multitude of subjects that are studied in the English Classroom.  Also contains links to other helpful websites,

including a personal favorite, A.word.a.day.  http://www.webenglishteacher.com/

2.  Schoolzone  Click on the resources button and you are able to browse for English lesson plans that are rated.  This website is maintained in the United Kingdom but the subjects were still relative.   The entire site is easy to navigate and well put together. http://www.schoolzone.co.uk/index.asp

3. Outta Ray’s Head Poetry Lessons  A homemade site filled with lessons dedicated to teaching poetry.  The subjects are new and cover rap and lyrics as well as classical poetry.  http://home.cogeco.ca/~rayser3/poetry.htm

4.  Mrs. G’s English Lessons  Very well organized and divided with lesson plan offerings on various subjects and also various methods of assessment. This website also has a link to talk with Mrs. G whenever she is online.  http://www.angelfire.com/ok/freshenglish/

5. ENGLISH LESSON PLANS PAGE  WARNING!!  This is a great page, full of awesome ideas, however there is really annoying music attached to it (Pink Floyd’s “Brick in the Wall” played on synthesizer) and there is no way to turn it off besides muting your volume, consider yourself warned.  Otherwise browse through Marc Zimmerman’s well maintained page and glean from his years of experience.  http://members.aol.com/mezim/
