Teacher Sites

This site is for a
kindergarten classroom. It allows the parents to explore the classroom and be
in touch with what activities the child is exercising throughout his/her day.
This web page gives great
descriptions to the parents to let them know what is going on in their child’s
classroom so they can communicate with the student at home. The graphics are
incredible, colorful and appropriate for kindergarten students. The site
includes a list of great places to go with your child to broaden their
experiences outside of school.
One of the links that was
supposed to take you to a shape activity routed me to a web design site. In
another link the page had moved and when it connected me to it, it didn’t go
directly to the activity instead it went to the home page so you had to search
for the link. Another recommendation may be that the site seems to be parent-friendly
but not student- friendly. Possibly they could add a link to allow the students
to access the site and interact on their own with activities.

The web page is for a 5th
grade classroom teaching all subjects and utilizes the internet for students,
teachers and parents.
I like the graphics and
design. It has a warm and inviting feeling to it. The homework page is a great
resource for parents or those students that may have been absent. There is even
a tour of the classroom using characters, not real pictures, of the teacher and
the students. This is a great idea so there is no fear of any violation of
privacy.
The book list is a little
confusing. It is listed in alphabetical order which is great and it also
indicates reading level. However, there are so many books listed that it would
be better to rank them first by reading level and then alphabetically. There
also needs to be a link to go back to the home page, so you don’t have to
continually hit the back button. Finally, the moveable mouse pointer is cute,
but incredibly distracting. I wanted to keep playing with it, I can’t imagine a
5th grader getting anything else accomplished.
