Kid safe
One Key.com
OneKey is
in partnership with Google.com. I found that it provides the largest database
of kid safe sites. This search engine blocks any pornographic and inappropriate
content. This was the best search engine that I found. http://www.onekey.com/
Dibdabdoo.com
Dibdabdoo.com
searches around 2 million kid/teen safe sites. I liked this search engine
because it was kid friendly and accesses many different topics. This search
engine uses fast meta technology
that searches sites and databases that have been reviewed by people, not
computers and classified as kid/teen safe.
Shopping

Froogle.com
Froogle.com
is my #1 pick for shopping on the web. And of course who would have guessed it
is a branch of google.com. When comparison shopping, this search was the best
for bringing you a variety of products. It gathers listings of products from crawling the web and accepting product feeds vendors. http://froogle.google.com/
MSN shopping
MSN shopping
is my second pick. This shopping search engine offers guides that give you
tips, editor suggestions, and other features to help you select the best
product and a great price. http://shopping.msn.com/
Medical
MedlinePlus
MedlinePlus
is the best Medical search engine that I found. It uses the National Library of
Medicine for its information and is updated on a daily basis. There are no
advertisements so you don’t have to worry about pop-ups; just straight facts
and information about what you are looking for. http://medlineplus.gov/
OmniMedicalSearch.com
OmniMedicalSearch.com is the best
Medical search engine I found. It is a metasearch engine covering 25 databases
including authoritative medical search engines, image libraries and the latest
health and medical news. They target both the general public and medical
professionals and information is easily accessible. http://www.omnimedicalsearch.com/
Travel
Expedia.com
Expedia.com
is our favorite search engine for when we travel. My son plays on a travel
baseball team and we go up and down the east coast and we always use Expedia to
book our hotel rooms and flights. It’s simple and easy. http://www.expedia.com/
OneTravel.com
OneTravel.com
would be my second choice. They offer a wide variety of services from airfare
to hotel reservations. The lay out was very easy to understand and very user
friendly. http://www.onetravel.com/
Educational
searchedu.com
I found searchedu.com was great to use when educators are looking for
examples in teaching strategies. Of course this search engine is part of Google.com
so there is a vast database of information. It brings up a lot of information
with limited words in the search directory. http://www.searchedu.com/
Yahoo Education
Yahoo Education
is my second favorite search engine. Yahoo is widely known and with education
as the subgroup you receive specific results with many websites to locate the
information you need. http://dir.yahoo.com/Education/
