Publications

Educational Technology Review  This publication addresses teachers for K-12. The publication’s primary focus is on issues and applications of educational technology. It provides journal articles, a forum to present and discuss aspects of educational technology. You will need to subscribe to the publication. An article that I found interesting to my field is Increasing Computer Use in Early Childhood Teacher Education: The Case of a “Computer Muddler”. http://www.aace.org/pubs/etr/issue4/index.cfm

Edweek.org  A publication that offers 4 different sites: Ed Week (from an administrative point-of-view), Teacher Magazine (resources for the classroom), Research Center (investigates topics of interest), Agent K-12 (job seeker). It also offers forums to communicate with one another. You will have to subscribe, but it is free. An article I found was about 2 math teachers organizing an after-school math program to encourage interest in math. The title is, Proof Positive. http://www.thejournal.com/

T.H.E. Journal  This is my favorite publication. It offers widespread wealth of information with technology and education. The subscription is free, but it does allow you to access the articles without the subscription. The publications sub headings are: Application, Educator Evaluation, EduNet, Industry Perspective, News, Product Watch, Book Club, Hands on Review, Math & Science. The article I found is, Using Mindtools in Education. It describes five mindtools: Database, Graph, Concepts Mapping, Search Internet, and Visualization. http://www.thejournal.com/

Highlights TeacherNet This has to be the best site I have found for publication. The list of resources is amazing. It links you to lesson plan sites, contests that are going on, educational news, and many, many more exciting references that can be used in the classroom. The article Reading Strategies gives classroom teachers an idea of how to organize their room to encourage reading. http://www.teachernet.com/

Learners Online Offers a wealth of information of how to use the computer in the classroom. This publication has insightful articles, weekly on-line lesson plans, and curriculum materials. You do need to subscribe to this publication. An article in the publication titled In the “Real World” talks about alphabetizing things and how the teacher needs to connect it with the real world by showing students all the things that are alphabetized; beginning with the telephone book. http://www.learnersonline.com/magazine/magindex.htm
