  1. The Pilgrim Life Adventure:  This is an extremely well done and very involved web quest for children in first grade about who the Pilgrims were and what their life was like.  There are six tasks for children to complete in this web quest, including a Venn diagram, a journal of what they have learned about the Pilgrims, and a family tree for their family.  This web quest also has substantial supporting information for teachers who would like to use it with their own classes.  Date Retrieved April 24, 2004.

  1. Native American Web Quest: Designed by a second grade teacher and a special education teacher, this web quest takes children on the back of an eagle to visit different Native American tribes around the United States.  Teams of students are to interview members of Native American tribes for a taped TV program.  Each team member is assigned a job, such as producer, writer, on air talent, etc. as their task in creating the interview.  They must also complete a research guide on their   assigned tribe using sources on the Internet, and in print.  There is extensive teacher support for those who would like to use this web quest with their own students.  Date Retrieved April 24, 2004.

  1. Famous Virginians at the Colonial Fair:  This short but well done web quest for fourth or fifth graders is intended to help them learn more about George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, James Madison, James Monroe, and Patrick Henry.  Students are to be paired up and then given a famous person to research using online and print sources.  One of the students is to portray the famous person and the other a TV reporter interviewing them at the school’s Colonial Fair.  The other students in the class are also paired up and assigned one of the famous people to research online and in print and then prepare a brochure about.  They are also to introduce the famous person during the interviews at the fair.  Teacher information is provided.  (This is also intended for Language Arts and Technology classes.)  Date Retrieved April 24, 2004.

  1. Archaeological Adventure in Greece:  Designed for third grade social studies and language arts classes, this well written web quest is designed to help students learn more about archaeology and Ancient Greece.  Students are assigned to different archaeological team roles and then asked to do online research in order to provide advice to an inexperienced team of archaeologists who have just discovered an important new dig site in Greece.  Teacher support is provided.  Retrieved April 24, 2004.

  1. Life During the War Between the States:  This web quest, designed for grades 4-7, uses resources found on the Internet and in the library to help students learn about what life was like during the Civil War.  Once students are broken down into groups, each group member is to choose a specific role to play, such as a. civilian, a medical person, or an officer.   Then they are to research what life would have been like for that person during the war.  Groups are then to combine all their research into a scrapbook.  Extensive supporting information for teachers is provided.  Retrieved April 24, 2004.
