Newsletters

Electronic newsletters are a great resource for teachers. Whether you are subscribing to receive information on a subject of personal interest, or looking for lesson plans and innovative classroom ideas, there is a newsletter for you. Below are two newsletters that I subscribed to as a supplement to my lesson planning.
The Teacher Gazette-This fairly new (2003) E-newsletter published by the Colonial Williamsburg Education Outreach Department, is a great resource for Social Studies teachers. The newsletter contains a specific topic in Colonial History, a primary source document relevant to the topic, and an historical background of the primary source. The teaching strategy link also provides a lesson plan to support the topic. The lesson plan follows the format of Introduction, Materials, and Strategy; with helpful links to further facilitate the lesson plan. This newsletter is a great resource for both elementary and secondary education teachers and I look forward to receiving it.

Education World Lesson Plans-
This is a great newsletter for teachers of any subject matter or age level. There are numerous helpful links under categories such as: Lessons From the Past and New Lessons. A short overview of the lesson plans is provided, so teachers can quickly determine whether the lesson is of interest to them. I especially enjoyed the More Weekly Features Category and this link on Classroom Management Tips in particular. Check out the Techtorial and Tech Tips of the Week which help teachers keep their technology skill current. The Education World Site offers nine electronic mailings and I am considering subscribing to Education Site Reviews as well. http://www.educationworld.com/maillist.shtml#lessons
