TRANSLATIONS

1. When teaching Geography, students can learn a basic phrase such as “Good Morning” in the languages of the countries they are studying.

Good Morning - English

Goede Ochtend. - Dutch

Καλημέρα. - Greek

2. A “Holiday’s Around the World” lesson can incorporate the internet by using a site to translate holiday greetings into other languages. These translations can be used to make greeting cards and other craft projects.

For Example:

Merry Christmas - English

Frohe Weihnachten zu allen und zu allem eine gute Nacht. - German

Joyeux Noël à tous et au tout une bonne nuit. - French

3. Students can translate a saying, phrase or words into Chinese or Japanese to use in an art project.

4. Students can use translations to learn the latin phrases for many common things in science.

5. A teacher can set up a pen pal situation either on paper or through the internet for their class to converse with a class in another country. Students can learn how to translate the letters.

Dear Pen Pal, - English

Cher Correspondant, - French

Lieber Brieffreund, - German
