Overview

This bibliography was designed to help teachers find engaging lesson plans for all subjects. I have compiled websites that provide teachers with lesson plans for general subjects and individual subjects including language arts, math, science, and social studies. You can read my summaries for each site to determine which one you want to visit to discover wonderful and engaging lessons. I have included the grade levels that the websites are most suitable for. I hope this page will help you find the lesson you are looking for!

Need ideas for lessons? Check out the Lesson Plans Page. This site offers over 2,500 lesson plans for free! The site is very organized and easy to navigate. You can begin your search for a great lesson plan by clicking on a subject and then a grade level.  A lot of potentially useful links will show up and if you click on them, you can read the lesson plans. A to Z Teacher Stuff

This site offers a multitude of lesson plans across many subject areas including math, language arts, science, social studies, family involvement, games, learning centers, and more. Discovery School

Talk about useful and very teacher friendly! The Discovery School site offers quality lesson plans as well as puzzles, “brain boosters,” clip art, “homework helper,” and a curriculum center. Each of these headings provide links to useful lessons and ideas. The headings are organized as a neat list, making the site very easy to navigate. There are lesson plans for grades K-12. The Educator’s Reference Desk

This website is an excellent resource for teachers of all grade levels. The site is very easy on the eyes and easy to use. When you choose a subject and grade level, you will get a list of lessons plans with the grade level next to it. When you click on a lesson, it displays it in lesson plan format complete with objectives and materials you will need. The best part is that these lesson plans are printer friendly. Carl’s Corner

If you are looking for anything language arts, this site is for you! “Carl’s Corner” features ideas and activities including letters of the alphabet, blends, poetry, little books, writing, and much more. Daily Grammar

This site features numerous lesson plans from a teacher with over 30 years of teaching experience. All of the lessons are for language arts and include parts of speech, parts of sentence, and mechanics. This site would be useful for language arts teachers of varying grade levels. Literature Based Reading Lessons

If you want to use various books to supplement lesson plans, this is a good site. The Dallas Christian School provides lesson plans on word study and comprehension using books such as Flat Stanley, Boxcar Children, Amelia Bedelia, Henry and Mudge, and others. This site is targeted for second grade teachers. The site lists the books they use and when you click on the title, lesson plans, tests, and other resources come up.

Literature Lesson Plans

From Frog and Toad are Friends to Shakespeare, this site offers lesson plans and activities that go with many popular books used in the K-12 curriculum. As you enter the site, you can browse through book titles by clicking on a letter of the alphabet. (You will search by the first letter in the title of the book you are looking for). The Math Forum

This site is actually an internet mathematics library where you can search and find a multitude of lesson plans for math. The site is organized into links for different math topics. The site can also be searched by grade level. When you click on a lesson plan link, it will give you an overview of the lesson which is very helpful in determining if you want to use it or not. This site provides math lessons for all grade levels.

Fun Mathematics Lessons

Thank goodness for teachers who are willing to share their great ideas! This site was created by Cynthia Lanius, a former math teacher. This site was chosen out of 12 math sites as the best for teachers on the Internet. The site features engaging activities for a range of math topics including counting, graphing, and problem solving. The activities cover everything from early counting to algebra and would help math teachers of all grade levels. All you have to do is click on a link on the main page and you will get a fun and engaging lesson plan.

PBS Teacher Source

You can view math lesson plans and activities that accompany popular children’s television programs on PBS such as Arthur, Barney, Mister Roger’s Neighborhood and others. The site is organized by math topic and grade level. Once you make your selection, several lessons will come up with a title and a description you can use to determine if it is a lesson you want to use. The lessons are very kid friendly and are inspired by some of their favorite TV programs. Activities for middle and high school students are also available. Smile Program Mathematics Index

This site contains over 200 math lessons from topics including geometry and measurement, patterns and logic, probability and statistics, recreational and creative math, practical and applied math, arithmetic, graphs and visuals, algebra and trigonometry, and miscellaneous math topics. The lesson plans are organized into one of the above categories. When you click on a lesson, a descriptive plan will come up with the intended grade level, materials, and any other information you will need to use the lesson. It provides science lessons to teachers of all grade levels and is highly organized into science categories arranged in an alphabetical listing sectioned off into grade levels. Hands-on Science Lesson Plans

This site features lessons for older students that enable them to engage in hands-on learning. The lesson plans are organized into science topics including biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, and math. When you click on a topic, a list of sub topics comes up. Science Lesson Plans

Science Lesson Plans is a page that provides more specific science lessons with titles such as “A Day With Dinosaurs,” “Springtime On the Farm,” “Visit to the Rainforest” and others. The page contains a list of about 30 science lesson plans that would be useful to pre-school and elementary school teachers. Simply click on the link and you will have a lesson plan.

This site contains science project and experiment guides for teachers of all grade levels. Each experiment has a title and description of the scientific topic being addressed and indicates the level of difficulty of the experiment. This site was created by secondary education professor Dr. Marty Levine. The site includes lesson plans, online activities, teaching strategies, and other useful resources for social studies teachers. When you click on the link for lesson plans and teaching strategies, you will find social studies lessons for grades K-12. If you click on the grade level, a series of lessons will come up. “Edsitement” is an exciting site for teachers. It provides lesson plans, units, and links to other great social studies websites. You can search by social studies topics and grade levels. This site provides lessons for all grade levels and would be useful to any teacher. It also contains lesson plans for other subject areas.

An easy site to navigate! The social studies lessons page is a neat listing of numerous lessons that have been divided into grade levels. There are lessons for K-12 students. You can read the lesson headings on the opening page. The grade levels are placed in parenthesis after the lesson title. This site would be useful to any social studies teacher. Social Studies Lesson Plans and Unit Summaries

The lesson plans found on this site were produced by college students from Utah State University. All of the lessons appear in an alphabetical list and include grade levels and authors of the lesson plans.
