To Whom It
May Concern:
You recently sent me an e-mail which
claimed to be warning me of a virus. The
e-mail that you sent is a hoax. Often,
the creators of these e-mails find it amusing to worry the general public. There are signs that we should all learn so
that we can recognize a hoax. Generally,
hoaxes contain a warning or a threat.(If you don’t…you
will…). They also generally do not have
any contact information. If it were
truly a warning about a rampant virus, the helpful individual who was warning
us would likely identify themselves.
Sometimes warning letters are even sent as the virus itself. If you are concerned about your computer
being infected, there are several things you can do. If you know the name of the virus, go to a
site that specializes in informing the public about viruses like http://www.sarc.com/ and look it up. You can also report possible viruses at many
of these sites. Please do look into your virus problem but abstain from sending
any more warning letters that are hoaxes.
Gook luck in your endeavors.
