Avoiding Pornography
Dear Students,
The internet has been an excellent resource for obtaining information as
well as many other activities. However, like many other inventions,
there is a negative aspect that we need to be aware of and instructed on
how to avoid. The negative aspect I am referring to is pornography.
Although you may see this as intriguing and harmless- it is not appropriate
and strictly prohibited. The steps below will ensure that we will avoid this
unwanted material.
Please read all of the steps carefully and sign below.
1. Shock is normally the first reaction, so stay clam and quite. Do
not alert your fellow classmates to the pictures.
2. The second reaction is usually to try and quickly close the window.
STOP- this will only lead to more unwanted pop-ups.
3. DO turn the MONITOR off by pressing the button on the monitor
with the circle. This will cause the screen to tutn off but the material
is still there.
4. Immediately find the teacher and quitely inform her of the situation (Take
her to the side as to not alert the class).
5. The teacher will most likely ask you to stand elsewhere while she
restarts your computer.
6. Pat yourself on the back for being discreet and honest and doing
the right thing.
I have confidence that the class will follow these steps but in the case
you do not, please remember the consequences for illegal surfing. If
you are in violation of this rule you will not be permitted to use school
computers. In addition, your parents will be notified.
