Introduction: Think about symbols that are significant in your
life and what they represent to you.
While driving home today, I saw a bumper sticker with a picture of the
confederate flag .
My immediate reaction was one of disgust at what the symbol of confederate
flag represented to me- hatred and slavery. As I got closer, I read
the remainder of the bumber sticker:
"Heritage, Not Hatred "
I decided to challenge my immediate reaction and research the confederate
flag as well as opposing points of view.
