In this unit, we have been Adding and Subtracting
Positive and Negative numbers by using the number line.
We know the following:
Positive number start on the right side of the "0"
and are labeled in increasing order from left to right.
Negative numbers start on the left side of the "0" and
are labeled in increasing order from right to left.
The number line is in increasing value from left
to right.
The Absolute Value of positive and negative numbers is
the amount of units a number is from zero on the number line.
Activity:
The number line is one tool for adding and subtracting
negative and positive numbers. You will now learn the rules for
accomplishing this. You will need to click on the

to gather
information about the rules for adding and subtracting
positive and negative numbers. Please read the Categories listed on

rules for addition and subtraction of positive and negative
numbers. After reading and gaining and understanding
of the rules, record them in your math notebook. ( You will be
using these rules often, so write them in an easily accessed
area of your notebook and write them neatly.) Please use the
