Searching
the Web for Teachers
Goals:
Teachers will be able to summarize and develop a short set of
search strategies that are easily learned and remembered.
Teachers will implement curriculum plans that include applying
technology to maximize student learning.
Teachers will use technology to support learner-centered
strategies that address the diverse needs of students.
Overview:
Teaching is one of the hardest jobs in the world and with the
introduction of computers and the World Wide Web it is getting even
harder. Some teachers I have met say
they do not have time to do all they have to do and search the Web for
information to use in their instruction and with their students. These modules
will help you get a quick start to searching the Web by allowing you to learn
search strategies and allow you some time to begin a search.

Search Tips
Not knowing the ins and outs of the internet is one aspect of
Web searching that holds teachers back from using it. Today you are going to
take a few minutes to review your math skills.
Using Search Engine Watch, under the topic Web Searching Tips you
will read Search Engine Math by Danny Sullivan.
When you finish you will complete the Search Features chart. This chart will help to remember the pluses
and minuses of searching.
