The Water Cycle

The water cycle is very important for all life on Earth.  Water is constantly being recycled between the land and sky.  Each step in the water cycle is important so that all living things will have water to drink.  Water is one of the most important natural resources on Earth.

In this activity you will learn about the water cycle from various websites.  After reading each website description of the water cycle, you will be filling in your own model of the water cycle.

1. In your Science notebook take notes on the water cycle while looking at the following websites.  You may visit the sites in any order, but you must visit all three of them.  Compare the information that you read and write things down that are different on the sites.

 2. Compare the two diagrams of the water cycle below.  What are the similarities and differences?  Which one do you think is the best version of the water cycle?

After studying both pictures, please return to your seat.  You will find a worksheet (like the one below) on your desk of the water cycle.  Your job is to fill in the different stages and write a sentence about each.  Good luck and have fun.
