This panda bear is an endangered species.   An endangered species is a certain kind of animal or plant that is close to becoming extinct on Earth.   These species can be found all over the world.  There are endangered plants, flowers, mammels, fish, reptiles, and birds.  Some of these species are very close to becoming extinct and some have just been named an endangered species.  There are many different organizations that help with these animals to try and save them.  Go to this exciting and informational website.  Look at the pictures of some of the animals that are extinct.  Read how you can help these endangered animals.  Also, search and find the endangered species that are located in Maryland.

1. Did you find the many different endangered species found in Maryland?  Name three animals and two plants.  Have you ever seen any of these animals or plants?

 

2. What is “overexploitation” and “habitat destruction”?  Are there ways to stop this?

 

3. What are some reasons why these species are important?  Why should we want to help save them?

 

4. How can we help?  Is there a way that the school can help with the endangered species?

 

It is important to understand how crucial these species are to our environment.  You can find many books and magazines at the library to learn more about endangered species and how you can help!!
