Jayme Jaramillo
Best in Category Awards!!!
The search was
designed for a high school English teacher; therefore, I based the search on
grammar activities. For each search
engine, I used the phrase “Grammar Classroom Activities”.
Congratulations to:
219,000
sites appeared in .23 seconds, which makes Google the fastest search
engine. There is great description of
each site, so you can avoid searching irrelevant links. There are a lot of links and they state if
they cost money. If you like the link,
there is an icon, which connects you to similar sites.
As
the site appears, you get exposure to current news events. 100,263 potential sites were listed for my
search. The descriptions are brief, but
helpful. It connected me to sites I never
would have found; such as, www.ncbe.gwu.edu/classroom/lessons/html. A lot of the links are for elementary level,
but grammar lessons can be used for all aged students.
After
my original search phrase, I also searched “Part of Speech” and “School”. There are awesome pictures you can download,
but in addition to the pictures, you can access informative sites. The search engine is user friendly and has
the largest number of pictures available.
Ask
Jeeves is a popular site for research.
It is extremely user friendly and provides ample links. You can access kids, pictures, news, etc.
all on this site. After asking a
question, they provide links and suggested ways to refine your question. This site is student-friendly, because your
search does not need to be completely accurate. They aid you with spelling, word choice, etc. to get you to the
necessary links.
Ask
Mamma is not a large search engine, but is extremely user-friendly. 61 sites appeared for my search. The search engine gives several options,
including images, audio, & kids.
Each site has a detailed description and even tells you if it is free or
costs money.
