What do you think about year round schooling?
 

 

 

 

 


Today’s lesson will look at a topic that is near and dear to all of hearts – year round schooling.  Several states are currently proposing that their school districts move to a year round schedule rather than the traditional nine months on, three months off schedule.  As you can imagine, this topic has created much controversy across the country, with some districts claiming that year round schooling has definite benefits for students, while others are claiming that year round schooling is simply a bad idea and not proven to be effective.

 

What do you think about year round schooling?  The websites below offer both views on the subject.  For today’s lesson you should read the websites and provide a list of three advantages and three disadvantages listed for year round schooling.  Afterwards, write a one-page paper that describes your viewpoint on year round schooling.  Be sure to use some of the information you obtain from your research as support for your opinions.
