WHAT DID YOU LIVE IN?

Introduction:  Native Americans lived all over the United States.  This means that there were a lot of different types of houses.  A house that was good for one part of the United States might not be good for another part.  Your job is to discover the house used for each part of the United States.

By the time you are finished this activity, you should be able to name the different Native American areas in the United States.  You should also be able to name the house used in each area and one fact about that house.

ACTIVITY:

Your first task is to label the areas on the map.  Use the web site: http://www.mnsu.edu/emuseum/prehistory/settlements/index.shtml

Click on each color in the United States.  The name of the area is at the top of the information page.  Write the names of each area on the lines.

Your second task is to find what kind of house is in each area.  Use the same web site as above.  Click on each color in the United States.  Read the information about the area and the shelters.  Fill in the chart below with the information you learned.
