Romaticism

Romanticism is an art movement of the early nineteenth
century. Much of it is a direct
response to Neo-classicism. It can
be very difficult to tell the difference between neo-classicism and romanticism
because the painting style in the two movements is the same. Both strive for perfection and absolute
realism. The main difference
between the two movements is that romanticism emphasizes the emotional impact
and drama of the story depicted.
Go to http://www.artlex.com/ArtLex/r/romanticism.html read about
romanticism. Below are four
examples. Tell me if the painting
is neo-classical or romantic and how you know. You do not have to identify the painting or read what is on
the site, only look at the picture and recognize period.
