1. Jr. High/ Middle School Art Lessons: This site has many art lessons for middle school
students. Most focus on
incorporating art history and art movements into the lesson but a few focus on
artistic styles and media. Many
lessons also include using fun, unconventional materials such as food or
flip-flops as well as student examples. Date Visited: 7/7/09 http://www.princetonol.com/groups/iad/lessons/middle/middlelessons.html
2. Art and Lesson Plans:
a middle school art teacher created this site. She has posted many of her own lesson plans and describes
how she uses each lesson and introduces the lesson to her students. Lesson plans are well organized and
there are many lesson plans in each category and for different media. Also includes student examples as well
as famous examples. Date visited: 7/7/09 http://www.art-rageous.net/Art-Plans.html
3. Blick Art Materials: Dick Blick not only is a great place to
buy art materials at a great discount but they also offer free lesson
plans. There are over two hundred
lesson plans, which will download immediately upon clicking on the link. This site is not specifically for
middle school, but the age range appropriate for the lesson is next to the
link. Most are recommended for
middle school. Many different
media are addressed included digital art. Date Visited: 7/8/09 http://www.dickblick.com/lessonplans/
4. ArtEdventures with Carmine Chameleon:
This site offers some fun ideas and lesson plans for elementary and
middle school. Many focus on art
theory and art history, but many call for a lot of invention and
creativity. Lesson plans include a
class mural, designing a public memorial and designing a home. Some lesson plans claim to be for middle
school, but seem to be directed at a younger audience but still contain good
ideas. Date Visited: 7/8/09 http://www.alifetimeofcolor.com/
5. The Lesson Plan Page: This site is easy to navigate and well
organized. Middle school art
lessons are divided into two categories: 6-7, and jr. high/ middle school. The lessons are organized by theme and
include lessons on culture, civil rights, and emotions in art. Each lesson plan includes a description
before you click. Unfortunately,
there are no student examples. Date Visited: 7/8/09 http://www.lessonplanspage.com/Art.htm
