Children’s Literature

 

The books listed on these pages are appropriate for elementary school students. Each book has a short annotation describing the book.

 

Audio Books – These are recorded books and are rated by how enjoyable they are to listen to.

Award Winning Books – These are books which have received various book honors. Caldecott and Newbery Medal winners are not included.

Caldecott Books – These books have received either gold medal or silver medal awards. The Caldecott Medal is awarded for best illustrations in a children’s book. The medals are awarded annually.

Intermediate Fiction – The books listed are children’s novels and are appropriate for students reading between a third and sixth grade reading level.

Newbery Books – The Newbery Medal is awarded annually for excellence in children’s literature. Books listed on this page have been awarded either the silver or gold medal.
