Worksheets for Instruction

-Divided up by subject/content area at the elementary level.  Because I do not teach a particular grade level I have focused on my hopes of teaching 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grades.

-After reviewing tons of websites in this assignment, I discovered plenty of them I will hope to use in my future study teaching as well as when I am a teacher.  I also took notice of how much I liked the worksheet creators so I can create and individualize each lesson.  This would also be very helpful in terms of differentiated instruction, each student getting his or her own worksheet depending on learning ability.

Mathematics

1. Teach R Kids Math

-This website offers on the left hand margin, a number of content standards to choose from as well as a variety of grade levels that each content area refers to. The worksheets are simple in context but easily printable or can be completed on the Internet and get to the material that should be taught.  This website makes it easy to print worksheets as homework based or practice reinforcement.

2. Homeschool Math

-This website is more intended for upper elementary with the focus on fractions, decimals, percents, and basic operations (can be used for lower grades).  The nice thing about this page is you can adapt and create your own worksheets by plugging in your criteria depending on what you are teaching at that time. Gives you the option to use this website a number of different times in the same unit just by adding and adjusting the content level.

3. Primary Worksheets

-Although I wasn’t at first impressed at the amount of worksheets available I clicked on a few and recognized how well put together the worksheets are.  They are much more advanced and creative and not simply review problems.  The worksheets are interesting and a nice change of pace for not only teachers but also the students who are using them, which is the most important.

Reading Comprehension

4. ABC teach

-As a whole, this website is fantastic for any type of printable material used in the classroom.  In terms of worksheets, once you choose your particular grade level you are offered sub directories of fictional, informational, and holidays/seasonal.  In each category supplies great print outs which are a great example and practice for students around testing time.  To be able to read a particular short story or piece of a story and understand it in order to answer follow up questions.

5. Free English Worksheets

-Topics include English, vocabulary, rhyming, reading comprehension, alphabetizing, and grammar worksheets. Plenty of ideas to get a lesson started or even build a lesson around many of the worksheets provided.  Could span across a variety of grades depending on whether the topic is review or a new lesson.

-On the left side of the margin, offers other subjects as well as ILA for use in other subject areas.

6. FCAT Resources

-Vast list of links to worksheets that offer a variety of content areas.  From main ideas, fact vs opinion to graphic organizers and quiz makers of sorts.  Basically a wide range of material that allows for teachers to be creative with material taught. I especially like the quiz, work scramble, and handwriting worksheets.

7. Handwriting Worksheet Maker

-This is a simple worksheet to help students learn and practice their handwriting skills whether it is in basic print or cursive.  You choose the size of print as well as what you want each line to say or it can be plain lines.  I like the variety you can create with this website. A great resource for primary grades learning handwriting.

8. Worksheet Generator

-Created by Discoveryschool.com the level of development is accurate.  You have the option to either create your own worksheet with a number of templates available or print out worksheets already developed and created.  To create your own worksheets it gives step by step directions to input your own information which is much easier than creating a word document. Great site!

9. Kid’s Page Archive

-Organized according to grade level covering different subjects but focusing in on mathematics.  The nice thing about each worksheet listed in a brief description of what each is about and what skill area it covers.  Worksheets are simple but effective and can easily be adapted into the class at any time.

10. Worksheets 4 Teachers

-The largest variety of different subject areas as well as monthly themed worksheets I have seen.  This is a website when you have some spare time in the classroom or are looking for a fun activity to do for a particular holiday.  It covers all subject areas and elementary grades. Just a well-rounded site for printouts for students!
