Today, it is so important that children who have access to the Internet use it properly and effectively.  Below is a list of the ‘top ten’ important things to remember when using email.  It is intended for elementary students who are either at the beginning stages of email use of for those students who may be more proficient than some adults.

 

Top 10 List of Email Suggestions to keep in mind ->

 

 

► Email only those who you know and are friends with. No strangers.

► Do not open email if you do not know who sent it. A good way to get a

computer virus.

► Save addresses to a book and create shortcuts for people. This way you will

 eliminate spelling errors of long email addresses.

► When writing an email, keep subjects simple but effective. No book writing but

 be sure to include a subject, makes it easier.

► If your email offers different texts (BOLD, italics) you may want to use them to show emotion or expressions. Play around with the options

► Reread your email before sending it, unlike Word programs, it does not have spell check. Make sure it makes sense.

► If you are including weblinks, (URL addresses, for convience, copy and paste the address to eliminate spelling or grammar errors.

► If you plan on sending attachments, keep them to a minimum (files get large, fast). Send 2-3 at most.

► Be sure to save your email address and password in a safe place where you will remember it.  Do not create a crazy password, nor do not use your first name or anything else obvious. Something only YOU will remember!
