I chose to install Spybot on my computer, for no other reason than lack of knowledge and options in spyware applications. I checked the sites that we were told to look on in the assignment module, but they did not connect, the pages were no longer at those addresses.

            In the assignment, Buddy spoke of Spybot so I downloaded it. I then did a search on the internet and found out more information about spyware applications. I also read the help box in Spybot. I now know that spyware is an application that sends my personal info out into the internet without my knowledge. Which then allows companies to send me more pop-ups depending on what they perceive to be my likes and interests. I decided that I need to protect myself against those types of things.

            Spybot was very easy to use and that is always a plus, the easier the better. I installed the program, which took a little while with all the updates and then I ran it. I did not really know what to expect. After running the program, I found no problems. Which is amazing but it makes sense, since I have never had a pop-up on this computer. I thought for sure that I would have a few, but apparently I was wrong. It is nice to know that my computer is clean right now and I will continue to use Spybot in the future to make sure it stays that way.

            I am going to go downstairs to the family computer and install Spybot there. I expect to find many more problems there since you can barely go two minutes without a pop-up. I hope the Spybot application helps that problem.
