Cluster One-Sorting, classifying, and graphing

Sorting In Math Class-This site has two activities that work with sorting foods. The first just deals with sorting the food and the second activity goes on to give you more ideas to do once you have sorted the food. Square of Life-There are three classifying activities that are set up for a classroom, but can very easily be adapted for a 1-on-1, home experience. Graphing

M&M Counting Chart-This site helps you make a real graph using real objects like M&M’s. You could also use the same reproducible that they give you to make a bar graph or a picture graph. It then covers all three graphs that we learn about. Be sure to engage your child in a conversation about the graph. Understanding number relationships 0-10

Math Brain-This site has many different math games for children to play. The site is set up as a board game. As the piece moves around the board., your child will need to complete mini games to get to the next space. The mini games are mostly addition and subtraction with numbers less than ten. Ambleweb Addition Machine-This site can be used with kindergarten but it could go up to 3rdgrade or so. It is set up as an addition game. The facts come up and you type in the answer and it tells you if you are correct or not. If you want it easier (kindergarten), you would pick level one. Cluster Three-Shapes, patterns, and positional language

Shapes

Shapes Theme- This site is awesome. It has everything from books to read to online activities. It has a menu at the top, so you may go to specific things like activities, snacks, worksheets, links, etc. The songs on this site were very good and so were the links and games. There was one online activity called Shapes @ Kidzclub, it shows the shape, describes it, and then finds it in the real world. I really liked that activity. Childfun Family Website-The whole family can enjoy these activities. It is geared towards families and not teachers. The activities are for young children. It starts out with a few reproducibles and then it goes right into some great hand on arts and crafts activities to learn the names of shapes and the differences between them. Patterns

Teacher’s Net, Lesson Bank-there are some great ideas to use with your kindergartener at home. This site is written by a teacher giving other teachers ideas. It does not have a supply lists or anything that specific but if you read it you will get some really fun ideas to do with your child. Scholastic, So Many Patterns-This site gives you ideas of different things to pattern, like shapes, colors, and size. Positional language

Location-this site has some really nice activities to help children with positional language. It starts out by giving them example of each by moving a teddy bear to those posotions. In the next activity the childrne must use the positonal language to answer questions. A kindergartener could do the activities if there was someone there to read the instructions to them. Kidport First Grade Mathematics- This site has five games about measurement, that can be played online. Each game gives an introduction to a very basic concept of measurement and its vocabulary and then the children apply it to an activity. Children would have the chance to label items by size, length, and weight. It is very fitting for a kindergarten child, if an adult read it to them. Basic Addition Mini-Lesson- This site is a game that helps the children learn basic addition facts to 20. It will help them to understand the number concepts and how to add. It is a math problem with groups of bugs. When the child fills in the initial math problem, it will move all the bugs to a new leaf, one at a time, so your child can count them. Harcourt Math- This site has a letter to the parents that explains the vocabulary and terms that we use in class. It also gives them a chance to practice the activities with their children. The last page is a pattern game that the child can play with a parent and then make their own game with patterns. It says it is for second grade, but it aligns tightly with our curriculum. Elementary-This site has online games that cover most of the kindergarten clusters. This site is free to anyone that signs on. It is a fun way for children to practice their skills. The only problem is that it is listed alphabetically and it looks a little overwhelming. Be patient as you are manuevering this site. It can be worth it.
