Did you know that on January 13th,
the country of Lithuania celebrates Defenders of Freedom Day?
On that same day the small nation of Togo celebrates Liberation
Day. Even more astounding here in the United States January 13th
is National Clean Off Your Desk Day! Everyday, somewhere in the world,
someone is celebrating a holiday, whether it is a solomn day that commemorates
fallen war heroes, or a day with less serious impact, like May 16th is National
Bike to Work Day here in the United States.
For your project, you will need to do some research at a website called earthcalendar.net. You are to select a month of the year (your birth month will do), and create a calendar page that has a holiday on each page. You will have to search around the site to find the information you need, but it is there; don't get discouraged! You should include the name of the country of origin, and a short explanation of the holiday. The final product should be displayed on decorated poster board.
