in Schools

Introduction: Plagiarism is a
serious issue the school environment today.
Some students purposely plagiarize material and others accidentally
plagiarize material. Many do not understand
the ramifications of this act and others are not
educated about the topic. As you follow
the instructions below, you will learn more about this topic and place yourself
in the role of educator in a school environment.
Reading: This reading material
will help you better understand the topic of plagiarism.

Assignment: You need to pretend like you are a school
educator and you have to educate your new fellow teachers on plagiarism. You
need to review the above articles and websites below and educate yourself about
the topic.
Specification: Create an outline for the teachers (1-2 pages,
typed-double spaced) explaining the issues today surrounding plagiarism. This assignment is flexible, but educates
them on the topic.
Activity: You will develop
a short handout (two pages) for your students on the rules of plagiarism and
how to avoid it. Also refer to the
websites below for information.
