Dear Parents,

I am sending this letter home to you regarding your child’s internet usage.  Below is a list of things the school system does to assure that your child will have safe access to the internet.

1. The school monitors its computers and can track the sites that are visited at any time of day.

2.  The school also provides and introduction to the internet course that explains the importance of safety on the net.

3.  All content to the school website is pre-approved.

4.  The school will provide an e-mail account to your child.

I have listed below what I provide to your child as an educator to ensure their safety on the web.

1.  I will clearly explain my safety rules to your child at the beginning of this course.

2.  Your child will sign my agreement on these safety rules before proceeding in this class.

3.  I will ask the parents to review these safety rules and read and sign the agreement along with your child.

4.  I will be monitoring any web surfing during class time.

I will ensure that your child receives all of the information about internet safety and is monitored during class.  It is an honor system or their parents that will guide them at home.

Sincerely,      Erin Haines, Lower Level History and Resource Teacher
