Introduction: In general the left and right hemispheres of your brain process information in different ways. We tend to process information using our dominant side. However, the learning and thinking process is enhanced when both side of the brain participate in a balanced manner. This means strengthening your less dominate hemisphere of the brain. Read the information on processing styles that are characteristically used by your right or left brain hemisphere to help you understand how your brain processes information.
Directions/Activity:
1. Go to http://brain.web-us.com/brain/braindominance.htm. Take the Hemispheric Dominance Inventory Test. Click on “Score.”
2. The next page “Which Side Do You Use?” will tell you which side of your brain is most dominant. Below is a chart for you to fill out. Circle the cognitive processes in the left side of the chart that apply to you and then briefly describe what that means in the right side of the chart.
3. BCR- By paying attention to your less dominant style you can learn how to improve it. On a clean sheet of notebook paper use the information you received from this assignment to write a plan of things that you can do to help strengthen your less dominant side.
Staple your papers together and turn them in.
