ARTIFACT: Media Professional Meeting Reflection

REFLECTION:

Ever so often this quote is called upon to confirm the necessity for human interaction, to learn from one another, to realize that we do not exist in isolation. We are interconnected. The need to recognize the value of others in the field who can offer insight, ideas and support is a human instinct, an instinct that should be acknowledged by an efficient and productive library media specialist. I look forward to sharing my ideas with other professionals in the library media program. I look forward to receiving the benefit of other's experiences, that I may develop as a professional. And with this belief, I have thus attended professional meetings to gather more information and support. The HCPSS Media Specialists meet once per month, face to face, for media staff development. This staff development is crucial to keep abreast of current county media policies, changes and updates. During my internship, I had the opportunity to attend one such meeting focusing on Reading Promotion and collaboration with the Public Library. I believe that sharing ideas through committee meetings, professional workshops and staff develpment is essential for professional development.
