How it all began....
I can still remember the day when I decided to be a Media Aide in my school. I was young, maybe 10 years old. I had already found my niche in the media center, the books were my haven, my escape, my indulgence. I loved doing the mundane job of stamping library cards and filing catalog cards. I could not get enough. My dream at the time was to become a famous violinist or an actress. And when I was tired of that I would become a librarian.
After searching over the years, working in the hospitality industry, planning meetings and training seminars in Washington, DC, running a B&B in New York, and scheduling and organizing everything in my life, I decided to become an art teacher. Taking a position as a Media Assistant at Glenwood Middle School reconfirmed my original interests in the media program. So, I decided to enroll in the Master's program at McDaniel College. And now here I am....
Mission Statement
As a Media Specialist, I pride myself on supporting the learning environment. By doing so, I will always:
-Strive for and maintain open communication between the faculty and the Media staff.
- Create and implement programs to foster the love of reading in all students.
- Pursue and distribute new information relating to technology and learning.
- Evaluate and improve upon existing and future endeavors.
- Maintain a positive and friendly learning environment.
- Strive for excellence in the pursuit of information literacy.
- But most of all, I wish for you to feel at home.
I believe that all students should have access to all materials at all times. By maintaining a library that is age appropriate, I shall instill the value that all information is important and that all students should have the freedom to choose based on their personal values. My role is to provide a safe environment for all students to access information. My aim is to teach these students how to access, evaluate and use information safely.
