Clip Copy and Paste Art

Course Module 2

Objective: Students will learn how to copy and paste clipart to use on their own documents.

Introduction: There are several sites on the Web that hold different types of clipart. These sites will offer any clipart you can imagine. Reports, e-mails, papers, Power Point presentations and assignments can be enhanced by simply using these graphics. The easiest way to find clip art is through direct clip art sites. You do not need to visit clipart sites in order to copy and paste clipart. You can transfer almost any graphic you see on the Internet. Simply point to the graphic with your mouse cursor. Then right click (push down the right mouse button). A box will appear. Select Copy, switch over to your document, paste the graphic by right clicking your mouse, then select Paste. Some animated graphics can also be transferred this way.

Activity: We will visit clipart Websites and sites that use clipart. One site offers clipart for your own personal use. The other site uses clipart to enhance their text. Either way, each site can be used to transfer the clipart you see. You will copy and paste clipart from each site to an opened Word document. Warning: Because of copyright issues, you cannot use more than 15 images from one site or, for smaller sites, no more than 10% of the total collection.

Assignment: You will need a story that you wrote from your Language Arts class or a writing assignment. This story should be at least one page in length. This story also will need to be saved as a Word document. Now that you have the text as an open Word document, you will need to ‘copy’ at least ten (10) appropriate pieces of clipart. The clipart must relate to your story. The first piece of clipart must go with your title. The following nine pieces will go throughout the storyline.
