Applying Pythagorean’s Theorem

to some real world applications

 

Pythagorean’s Theorem can be used in many applications in the real world. Answer the questions below on a piece of paper and hand in your work.

Question #1:

You are going to build a playroom in your basement for your kids to play in. How can you use the Theorem to make sure you have a perfectly square room when you are finished?

 

Question #2:

What other applications in the real world can you think of that could make use of the Pythagorean Theorem? Provide at least three answers.

 

 Question #3:

This is a SUPER DUPER hard TRIPLE extra credit question. Now that you have figured out your measurements for your room size, how can you be sure that your room is perfectly square?
